The Big Data Management and Application major at Wuhan Institute of Technology is led by the School of Management and developed in collaboration with the School of Computer Science (School of Artificial Intelligence) and the School of Mathematics and Physics. These schools jointly develop and share experimental training platforms, teaching resources, and internship practice bases. The major boasts a strong faculty with a well-structured composition in terms of discipline background, academic origins, and age distribution. Over 90% of the faculty hold doctoral degrees, and the program implements a "dual mentorship" system where each undergraduate student is guided by both an academic supervisor and an industry mentor. The Party branch of Management Science and Engineering has been recognized as the third batch of National Party Building Model Branches by the Ministry of Education. The major offers a doctoral program in the secondary discipline of Industrial Engineering and a master's program in the primary discipline of Management Science and Engineering.
The curriculum features a comprehensive and systematic structure, organized into five key modules: foundational mathematics and computer science, core big data technologies, data analysis and machine learning, intelligent system development, and big data management applications. Students engage in deep learning of core subjects such as Python programming, data mining, big data visualization, natural language processing, and intelligent optimization algorithms, building a robust dual knowledge framework in both technology and management.
